St. Mark Lutheran Church has six church councils that work together to help its member to live our Mission Statement: Growing Together in God's Love to Serve Others. A brief explanation of each council is provided below. The church councils are always welcoming new members. If you are interested in participating in one of the church council's, call our church office for more information.
Community Life Council
Empowered by God, the members of the Community Life Council will provide opportunities for fellowship that enhance spiritual wellness while fostering an open, caring and forgiving environment.
This would include, but is not limited to:
Inter-generational events (e.g., Talent Show, Game Night, Ski Trip, etc.)
Small Group Fellowship (e.g., Friendship Club, The Belles, Softball, etc.)
Teams: Fellowship groups and one-event task forces.
Faith Development Council
Empowered by God, the members of the Faith Development Council will provide a teaching and learning community for the Gospel of Christ, which will equip people to be ministers and stewards in everyday life. In addition, they will assist parents in preparing our middle school and high school youth to be active members of the church, integrating their faith into their daily lives.
This would include, but is not limited to:
Adult Education (post high school)
Sunday School (3 years old – 6th grade)
Small group learning opportunities
Vacation Bible School
Family Education
Commitment to the continuing spiritual development and wellness of the youth by providing Christ-based education and youth-oriented worship experiences that build a solid foundation in Christ. This includes Confirmation.
Develop fellowship opportunities that allow youth to form and nurture relationships within the church with people of all ages.
Teach youth to put their faith into action by service to St. Mark community, outreach into our community at large, & stewardship of their gifts.
Teams: Children and Youth Education, Adult Education, Youth Fundraiser Team and many one-time event task forces.
Outreach Council
Empowered by God, the members of the Outreach Council will equip the people of St. Mark to witness the Good News of Jesus Christ and serve in our local and global community.
This would include, but is not limited to:
Evangelism
Social Ministry
Local Outreach (e.g., Centennial Area Food Shelf, Family Table Meal)
Regional Outreach (Sponsor-A-Family)
Global Outreach (ELCA World Hunger, Companion Congregation in Tanzania, Partnership with Lutheran congregations and schools in Slovakia)
Time and talents identification
Teams: E-Team, Social Ministry, Family Table Team, Iringa Team
Resource Council
Empowered by God, the members of the Resource Council will oversee the property and financial well being of St. Mark in order to support the overall Vision of the congregation and the efforts of each of the other councils.
This would include, but is not limited to:
Building and property maintenance
Recording and reporting contributions to the church (e.g. as is done by the Financial Secretary)
Paying the bills
Preparing a preliminary budget for the Support Council and Ministry Leaders
Paying the staff
Staff Support
Support the Endowment Team
Administration of an annual audit
Teams: Staff Support, Finance, Property, Endowment, Audit
Support Council
Empowered by God, the members of the Support Council will provide for the overall Council structure by ensuring their active and effective leadership in the ministries of St. Mark.
This would include, but is not limited to:
Uphold the Mission and Vision of St. Mark, including its review and modification
Promote communication and good-will between each of the councils
Long Range Planning
Seek to find leaders to serve on each of the councils
Conduct monthly celebration meetings for the entire Council structure
Conduct the Congregational Annual Meeting
Provide leadership training and development on a regular basis
Find candidates for the leadership position on each of the seven councils, along with TNT coordinators and Communicators. (A Nominations Team may be utilized, and should be closely aligned with the TNT Coordinators.)
Call emergency meetings of the Council as needed.

Worship Council
Empowered by God, the members of the Worship Council will provide resources for spiritually fulfilling worship experiences that equip us to be disciples of Christ in everyday life.
This would include, but is not limited to:
Lend support to staff with planning and mechanics of worship.
